Thanks for the info. And, I empathize with the "sense of entitlement" bit.

He doesn't make them all impossible to follow. The ones that are so difficult I think of as puzzle movies. Mullholland Drive, Lost Highway; not Eraserhead. This one is just so stylized that it's taking me a while to decide what some of the images meant. Which makes it puzzling, but not a puzzle.

I think you'd agree that he's made some straightforward films, such as Blue Velvet, Dune, and Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks had weird imagery, again, but the plot wasn't so impossibly twisted. Unless you only watch the pilot, then nothing makes sense at the end.

i tried to like david lynch. Dune is super awesome. but on his own i think he makes it a point for a movie to be IMPOSSIBLE to follow. i dont think that makes it art. bleh.

Good ideas. The doors are covered in that stuff furniture people call foil. Some kind of metal-backed veneer. I bought magnets to hold the doors, but I need a drill to get through that foil and I haven't bought one yet. When it comes down to it, the expense of keeping them out of the cabinets is much greater than the cost of letting them have fun and enjoying them having that fun.

I was thinking you could put a rubber band around the knobs for the cabinets to keep them closed, but then I looked at the pictures again and found that you had no cabinet knobs.

Perhaps you could keep them closed from the inside, somehow? Maybe a pushpin in the back of each door and then a rubber band around each? Then you could get in, but the cats would have to think harder.
